General Questions about Training and Certificates
- Do I need to renew my certificate before it expires?
Depends on the training certificate. For some trainings such as Occupational safety card training and Hot work certificate training, there is a refresher course available, which is shorter than basic course. You can only attend a refresher course with still valid certification. Otherwise it is also good to renew your certificate before it expires to maintain your certification. - Can I take the course again before my certificate expires to refresh my knowledge?
You have plenty of time to go through the material until you complete the course. Certification date is the date of examination. Refreshing the course then in 3-5 years requires a new purchase of the course. We also update and renew the material frequently. - Can I join the course even if I don’t have any prior experience in this field?
Yes. Our courses do not require any previous training or experience. They are designed to be accessible to everyone. - Can I participate in a course even if I don’t live in Finland?
Yes, you can. However, please note that our course content is based on Finnish legislation, and the certificates and cards we issue are officially recognized within Finland. Hot work Certificate is also recognized in Denmark and Norway - Is the course content up-to-date with Finnish regulations and EU directives?
Yes, we ensure that all our training content is fully up to date with current Finnish legislation as well as relevant EU directives.
Payments, Invoicing, Refunds
- Can I get an invoice for my employer or company?
Yes. An invoice will be generated automatically after you complete the payment for the course. - Is it possible to pay via bank transfer / credit card / e-invoice?
We support the following payment methods: bank transfer, debit and credit cards, and PayPal.
e-Learning / Online Courses
- Can I take breaks during the online course and continue later?
Yes. With our e-learning courses, you can study at your own pace. You decide when to start, when to stop, how much time to spend on each module, when to take breaks, and when to continue. - What devices and browsers are compatible with your online learning platform?
You can use a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with any operating system. Any device with internet access and a reasonably up-to-date web browser will work just fine. - Do I need a webcam or microphone for online courses?
It depends on the type of course. For live Occupational Safety Card training, you’ll need a webcam and microphone. They don’t need to be on at all times, but they are required during discussions, assignments, and the course exam.
For self-paced e-learning courses such as SFS 6002, First Aid, or Safe Lifting Training, no webcam or microphone is needed. - Can I access the course materials after completing the training?
You can access course materials 14 days after completing the course. - Which trainings can I do online?
Our current e-Learning modules are SFS6002 Electrcial safety training, TVA Occupational safety training, Emergency First Aid Training, SFS6002 First Aid training. These are available in English, Finnish and in Polish.
Certificates and Administrative Details
- Is your certificate recognized by major employers or authorities in Finland?
Yes. All of our certificates are recognized and accepted in Finland. However, it’s important to note that the client — usually the employer — decides which type of training they require. For example, some may prefer the Occupational Safety Card training (webinar-based), while others choose the TVA Occupational Safety e-Learning course. Both cover the same core topics, but the format is different. - Can I verify the validity of a certificate issued by you?
Yes you can. Send us an email to trainings@tva.fi - Can I change the name or information on my certificate if there’s a mistake?
Yes. Please contact us. - How long is the certificate / virtual card / plastic card valid?
Validity depends on training but 2-3 years with First Aid trainings and 5 with other safety trainings.
Training for Specific Professions or Roles
- I work near electrical installations but don’t touch them – do I still need SFS 6002?
In case you work close by, then yes. Too many electrical incidents have happened during non electrical work like loading/unloading. - I am an electrician, do I need to take a first aid course?
SFS6002 standard requires First Aid training for electricians. - Is Hot Work training required for maintenance workers or cleaners?
Hot work training is required for people who do hot works, welding, grinding, usage of propane torch etc. So need for hot work training arises from work tasks and not so much from occupational work group. - What counts as hot work?
Hot work is any operation that could create a fire. So in case in work: – produces sparks (welding, grinding) – usage of live fire (propane torch) – other heat sources (hot air guns, some heaters) - Can you provide customized training for our industry (e.g. construction, healthcare)?

No. Heta Arbeten is Swedish hot work training and it is valid in Sweden. - In Finland does the client determine whether an occupational safety card is required?
Yes, this is exactly how it goes. The company maintaining principal authority will define what type or basic safety training requirements they have. - How do I choose the right Occupational Safety Training for me?
There are a couple of different options. Please check our thorough article about this topic. But in short, the answer depends on your and also about your possible clients preferences.
Language, Interpretation, and Accessibility
- Which training languages do you have?
For eLearnings and our class we have everything in English, Finnish and in Polish.
We have also worked with an interpreter hundreds of times so we are very familiar with that. Interpreter could be one person from your company as long as she/he speaks pretty good English. Otherwise our direct training languages are English and Finnish.
- Can we get training material translated to our native language?
We have quite a good inventory available so let us know what you need and we’ll see if we have it
Classroom courses
- Are there any traveling expenses?
Traveling expenses with a car 1,10€/km. As fun as traveling is, it is unfortunately not free of charge: Traveling time 45€/hour (vat 0%) when traveling outside of the Turku area. Traveling expenses can be negotiable with bigger groups.

- When I will get my Virtual Card / Certificate?
Certificates and Virtual Cards are generated automatically once you pass the final test of your course
- When will I get my plastic card?
Once you pass the final test of your course we will create a plastic card for you and send it via post. Delivery time for Hot work cards 3 weeks.
- How to access my Virtual Card / Certificate?
To find your virtual card or certificate log in to tva.fi/lms30/my-courses and go to “Certificates”
- I have a certificate already but I would like to also have a Virtual Card, what can I do?
Virtual Cards, Plastic Cards and Certificates are different ways to confirm your skills. They are also different products. Please contact us if you would like to upgrade.
- I have a problem accessing my Certificate or Virtual Card.

Final Test
- Do I need to take a test to complete the course?
Yes. All our courses include a final multiple-choice test to verify your understanding of the course content. - What kind of test will I have to take at the end of the course?
The final test is a multiple-choice exam. The number of questions depends on the course you are taking. - How many questions are there in the final test?
The number of questions varies depending on the course. Some shorter courses may have 10–15 questions, while others may include more. - Is there a time limit for the final test?
No, there is no time limit. You can complete the test at your own pace. - What happens if I fail the test? Can I retake it?
Yes. If you don’t pass the test on your first attempt, you’ll have one additional opportunity to retake it. - Do I need to score 100% to pass?
No. Each course has a specific passing score, usually between 70–80%. You’ll see your result immediately after completing the test. - Can I use course materials while taking the test?
Yes, you are allowed to use the course materials while completing the test. We encourage you to review key sections as needed. - Is the final test the same for everyone?
The test content is based on the course you are taking, and questions may vary slightly to ensure fairness and accuracy. - Can I take the test on my phone or tablet?
Yes. You can take the final test on any device with internet access and a modern web browser — including smartphones and tablets.
